AVA NEEDS A NEW HOME AND FAMILY AVA is about a 7 yr old female black and tan GSD. She was spayed and given all shots. She was dumped at the shelter because her owner died and left no provision for the care of his dog. there were no family members...just nothing to help Ava. i was notified by a company that she was in a shelter and to check her out. I did go there for a visit and I accepted her conditionally into rescue, pending a final certification of her dog friendliness. She is about 55 pounds and will be very pretty once she is bathed and cleaned up. Her fur was in awful shape, but nothing some good food, fish oil and TLC can't quickly fix. She spay very well be HW Negative, and otherwise healthy and happy and affectionate. She took about 15 minutes to sit on my foot and look to me to be her person. She bonds quickly and will make a great companion dog for anyone.

Ava went for her spay and shots yesterday, but unfortunately the vet that originally spayed her didn't tattoo her, and we opened her up again needlessly. Some vets just don't get it that a tattoo is necessary every time you fix a dog. Ava is now in foster... a bit traumatized but now all shot up, hw NEG and ready to go to a new home. She is anxious now with other dogs but that seems easily addressed with some training. Her recall is excellent and she was trained in basic skills. She needs a single dog home as she bonds quickly and is going to make a fantastic companion. We now know she is 7 yrs old as we found a chip that was traced back to Feb of 2018.
