JAZ NEEDS A NEW HOME AND FAMILY

WE JUST RECEIVED UPDATED INFO FROM JAZZ'S ORIGINAL OWNER. see info below

JAZ WAS ADOPTED BY THE SUN COAST HUMANE STAFF. CONGRATULATIONS TO HER NEW OWNER. JAZ came into rescue yesterday but is currently being housed in a shelter in Englewood. She is a 4 year old rambunctious spayed female black and tan classic GSD. She is somewhat aloof but warms up quickly. She does bark at other dogs but is easily corrected. She was left outside most of the time and is reported to be housebroken. She did pee and poop when we took her out and didn't make a mess in the kennel. She is easily touched all over but does not like being completely restrained since she did not know us. She was originally turned in because the family was unable to deal with her anxiety toward thunder storms. She knows her name and some basic commands and takes direction well. She like ball and is very active and engaged. She is spayed and HW Neg and ready to go immediately. She is a big girl weighing about 78 pounds and in fabulous shape and condition. She is not a dog for a new owner and we do not suggest she be wit other dogs or cats at this time since she needs to calm down. She would not be good with cats as she has a fairly high drive and would chase them. If you are a skilled GSD family and able to dedicate the 3 solid months it will take to get her totally trained and obedient then this is a great dog for you. Please call for an appointment to see her.

Jazz was originally adopted from a shelter in MD. She is new to Florida and has a severe
anxiety with thunderstorms; the anxiety starts an hour before the storm arrives. The problem was
bad last 'rainy season' and dramatically increased this year. As you know, for 5 months here in FL
the storm may come every day -- although brief, they do come. It is difficult to always be at home
when every storm comes. Jazz prefers to be outside, as she had a large 6' fenced yard and a barn.
If you are home and she is in the house, she is fine (she is not, and has not ever been destructive)

The last few weeks, any threat of weather and she would jump the fence (often hurting herself).
I tried to crate her if I wasn't going to be home. The scratches on her face came from her breaking
the cage to get out. Whoever the lucky family is should know this information.

Jazz has been well cared for and has an extreme amount of energy. She walks on the right side.
She will run along side you while you bike ride... also on the right side.
She plays ball (only tennis and soccer balls) very well. She loves the beach and is an avid swimmer.
She can ride a paddle board in the water. She rides well in a car and had a special harness for
riding in the truck pick up bed. She would cry if she heard the truck start and she was not going! Jazz is housebroken. She will go to the door if she needs out. You can ask her "You need to go outside?" She will come inside for a few hours at a time, but only seems content inside if it is storming outside. She has only really been around a female - maybe she is just not responsive to someone else giving her commands right yet... but She knows all the basic - sit, down, stay, quiet, heel...commands while biking... slow down, stop, cross the street.

These comments were from her prior owner and were re-published in order to give any prospective adopter a more accurate and informed picture of this beautiful girl.
