EMMA HAS A NEW HOME AND FAMILY EMMA FOUND A GREAT LADY TO ADOPT HER AND SHE WILL NOW HAVE A CHANCE AT A GREAT LIFE IN A LOVING HOME.
EMMA came in today 5/18/16. She was a street dump in Labelle and was outside for well over a few months, starving and yet she is a fighter and has come through all of this with a perfect personality. This dog is a a sweetheart who wants and needs a family to care for her so that she can return the favor for many years to come. She is fantastic with people, dogs and cats. She seeks attention readily and it is a miracle that she is alive. Her skin was so bad they had to put her out to bathe her, yet now she is back and loves everyone. I really like this girl... all 50 pounds of her. Once her fur grows back in she will be beautiful, just like my Marco who also had no hair and is now gorgeous.
She is black and tan and as soon as her fur returns she will have a nice saddle. She has demadex which is a totally curable skin disease from being out on the street and not getting food or anything nutritious. Now that she is in our best foster for medical conditions, she will thrive and heal quickly. Once GSD's get this condition their fur falls out and the skin mites (which we all have) take over. With good food and meds she will regain her fur and health within a few months time. She appears to be no more than 4 years old. She is extremely people and dog friendly and seems to like cats from what we were told by the clinic that had been treating her for the past month. She weighs 60 pounds and has gained nearly 12 pounds since she was found. We will have photos later today. If you want to see her she will be at the Yappy Hour on Sunday.

Her first report from Foster care:

She is doing great, really good eater( eggs, coconut oil,Kirkland), takes grooming happily, loves to be toweled off. She has a great recall and knows sit and down well. She is a very soft dog and will be easy to train. She does jump on me but is learning corrections. Needs leash work. Loves hugs and cuddles. Very affectionate.
Very playful and frisky. Very active.
She does not like being outside and cannot wait to go back in. ( makes sense as she was homeless). Time and a trusting relationship will fix that. She crates well and if she sees me leave she will bark for a while. Trust and training will fix that too.
Her behavior with cats is trustworthy. With little dogs??? She paws at them and tries to touch them with an open mouth and is very excited.
Even if they are just standing near her. Could be a time thing. She is not trustworthy enough in my book at this juncture with littles and remains on leash around them.
Skin...looks better than I thought. She has had a veterinary fatty acid shampoo and an oatmeal bath. She is not really itchy at all. I use a blend of 4 oils to decrease inflammation, give natural UV protection ( she will burn bad at this point if an adopter doesn't protect her skin), anti fungal, anti bacterial protection. She already looks great. I noticed yesterday her fur is already coming back on her bald back area and that's a good sign.
She has a painful almond size abscess on her leg that is starting to drain and it looks like she has had many of these sores all over her that have healed. I have ointments on that.
This dog has got a very special sweet easy going nature and would be great in any home. She bonds well. Very easy keeper.
