I wanted to thank you for taking such good care of me until my mom and dad could find me. I miss you, of course, but wanted you to know that I am happy in my new home. My mom told me the story of how she came to find me. She said she was sad and lonely over the holidays because it was the first time she was away from her family. She had seen those very sad commercials on the TV (you know, the ones where abused and abandoned dogs and cats look so sad and scared?). Then one day she was in Port Charlotte and saw a sign for the Animal Shelter run by the Animal Welfare League. Something made her turn down that street and visit the shelter. She was really hoping to find a new best friend. She saw some pretty awesome potential friends there, but none of them were exactly what she was looking for. On her way out of the shelter, she picked up your card for swflgsdrescue.com. She visited the website and e-mailed. The very next day she saw me for the first time and knew right away that I was the one for her. I would say it was meant to be.

I am settling into my new home very well. Mom and Dad show me a lot of love every day. I am learning very quickly, which is good because they have some strange rules – no eating off the counters or dining room table, no licking people like they are my favorite bone, and no dogs on the furniture or beds. I am very well behaved, both indoors and out. I am taking obedience classes and Mom says I will graduate at the top of my class.
I am regaining my health slowly. My doctor says I am in pretty good shape and I can start exercising a little more now. Mom walks me in the morning even though neither of us is very excited about going out at 5 AM, and she walks me after her long day at work, no matter how tired she is. I am very good at walking and I do not try to pull Mom down the sidewalk anymore. I walk right beside her. It is our special time together.
My days are filled with resting, playing with my new squeaky toys, exercise, and watching over my new territory. After I have patrolled the perimeter of the yard, I am happiest on the front porch where I can keep an eye on everything that is going on, enjoying the breeze and snoozing in the shade.
I am glad there are people and organizations that can help match up animals like me, who need good homes, with people like my Mom and Dad, who have lots of love to give. God Bless you.
